10 tips on what to do next if you are already eating plant-based
In today’s article, I’ll write 10 tips and areas to focus on if you’ve already eating a vegan diet.
1. BUY COSMETICS NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS
Once you have excluded animal ingredients from your diet, continue to exclude non-vegan and animal-tested cosmetics. Animal testing is very cruel. Nowadays there is no problem to find an alternative to your favourite product.
Common ingredients that are used in cosmetics and are non-vegan are beeswax, carmine, shellac, gelatin, lanolin, and more.
However, it should be noted that cosmetics that are made of vegan ingredients can still be tested on animals. The only certificate you can trust is Leaping Bunny.
2. SAY NO TO PRODUCTS MADE OF LEATHER, FUR, FEATHERS, WOOL, SILK
Several tens of millions of animals die each year because of fur, they are kept and killed only for this purpose. They are killed by electric shock or by breaking the ligament. Wool and silk are also not 100% without suffering.
Try shopping in second-hand stores, fair trade clothing and vegan materials.
However, if you already have non-vegan clothes, try selling, donating, or just wear them and after switch for cruelty-free alternatives. It is up to each of us how to deal with these products.
3. DO NOT SUPPORT ZOOS, CIRCUSES, RACES
Using animals for fun is nothing nice or pleasant for them. Recently, circuses have been fairly talked about and people began to boycott the circuses.
In the zoo, a number of animals are forcibly kept outside their natural habitat. These animals are closed in the zoo only for our amusement.
4. EDUCATE YOURSELF IN VARIOUS AREAS OF VEGANISM
Educating yourself on different topics will open your eyes even further. Read vegan books or watch a vegan documentary/movie. There are many titles to choose from.
5. SUPPORT FARMS SANCTUARIES
If there is a farm sanctuary or an animal shelter near you, visit it. There you will see and understand how saved animals that escaped from death value life and how each one of them is capable of love and gratitude. If the sanctuary farm is not in your area, you can support it by sharing or by financial contributing.
6. ADOPT ANIMAL FROM THE SHELTER
Avoid the pet store and don’t even support cattery. On the street and in shelters there are many animals waiting for home and love. New ads with animals looking for home appear on Facebook every day.
7. JOIN VEGAN ORGANIZATIONS
There are a number of vegan organizations where you get to know people who think like you. These organizations have only one purpose – to show the truth to the public and fight for animal rights. Organizations often organize various events where you can come and promote a good thing.
8. SUPPORT VEGAN BRANDS
Support second-hand stores, fair trade clothing and buy vegan clothing materials. Make the right decision and use your money to support a brand that is vegan or contributes to the rescue of animals.
9. SPREAD THE VEGANISM IN YOUR AREA AND ON SOCIAL MEDIAS
Start an Instagram page to share recipes or your vegan journey. You can positively influence a lot of people. Each one of us experienced a point that opened his eyes. You can change someone’s point of view and open their eyes by your posts. Do not be afraid of discussion with people.
10. BECOME A VEGAN ACTIVIST AND MEET OTHER VEGAN PEOPLE IN YOUR AREA
Sign and distribute various petitions. Set up social medias to share vegan recipes and ideas. Take part in various protests. Test the food on vegan festivals. Attend vegan picnics or dinners in your city. Join vegan groups on Facebook and meet people who have a similar mindset as you.
