Running is my favourite sport ever. I love running and I encourage people to start running if they can. In today’s article, I’m going to write you 5 benefits of running.
1. It’s healthy
Running has amazing health benefits. If you decide to start running, you basically won. It has been proven, that running is a stress-relief. For me, running is like meditation. I enjoy listening to music while running or just listen to birds singing.
Running can also help with depression and anxiety. After the run, you will feel instantly better.
By running you boost the blood flow and it helps also with memory. Running can prevent age-related mental declining. Studies showed, that running may prevent you from getting cancer.
2. It’s cheap
If you compare running with gym classes, running is cheaper. You don’t need to pay for membership every month.
The only costs are at the beginning of running clothes and shoes. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on new clothes, I recommend trying to buy them in second-hand stores. All of my running clothes are from second-hand stores. I found brands like Nike, Hummel, Adidas, Asics etc.
The only new thing I bought was running shoes. If you want to invest in good running shoes, I recommend a brand called Asics. You can find good quality shoes on sale for around 60-80 euros.
3. You can lose weight
Running is the best cardio. While running, you burn a lot of calories. The general rule is that the average person burns 100 calories per mile of running. And it’s a lot. A couple of hours after running, your body is still burning calories.
4. You can run anywhere and anytime
You don’t have to spend time to get to the gym. You also don’t need to wait until the gym is open. You can basically run from your home as long as you want. Running can be good for introverts too. You don’t need to meet and talk to people while running unless you want to.
5. You can meet new people
If you decide to join a running club, you will meet people with the same hobbies and mindset as you. I am also a part of a school running club and it’s so fun! I love sometimes running with people instead of running alone.
